Ajang penghargaan bagi dunia hiburan televisi Amerika, Golden Globes kembali digelar pada Minggu, 28 Februari 2021 waktu Amerika atau pada Senin, 1 Maret 2021 waktu Indonesia. Acara yang dipandu oleh komedian langganan ajang penghargaan, Tina Fey dan Amy Poehler ini merupakan gelaran ke 78, sejak Golden Globes pertama kali diselenggarakan pada tahun 1944.
Sebanyak 27 nominasi penghargaan dibagikan pada acara tersebut. Masih di situasi pandemi, Golden Globes 2021 diselenggarakan secara online dengan melakukan video call secara langsung kepada mereka yang memenangkan penghargaan.
Salah satu momen yang mengharukan dalam Golden Globes kali ini adalah saat Taylor Simone Ledward, istri dari Chadwick Boseman mewakili mendiang, menerima penghargaan sebagai Best Actor in a Motion Picture-Drama.
Taylor mengatakan dengan terisak, "Jika ia yang menerima sendiri penghargaan ini, ia akan menyampaikan sesuatu yang indah. Sesuatu yang menginspirasi. Sesuatu yang ada di dalam hati kecil kita yang membuat kita bisa lebih maju dari saat ini. Sayangnya, saya tidak memiliki kata-kata itu. Saya hanya bisa mengucapkan terima kasih."
